My CV
Elevate Communications Ltd: November 2014 - present
I founded Elevate Communications in 2014 while I was still in permanent full-time employment, with a view to taking on occasional freelance work alongside my regular paid job. Early clients included SHEFFIELD HALLAM UNIVERSITY, for whom I delivered bespoke staff and student events, and ROTHERHAM AND BARNSLEY MIND, who engaged me to build and create content for a simple website.
From February 2019 to March 2024, I held a regular weekly contract role at the NATIONAL EMERGENCY SERVICES MUSEUM, SHEFFIELD, secured after a period as a volunteer. My main role was to develop proactive media relations with local, regional, national and industry media, to manage the museum's social media accounts, and to deliver copywriting and proofreading services for all signage, interpretation, news releases, marketing materials, newspaper and magazine articles, blogs, and funding bids. I contributed to event planning and delivery both internally and externally, helped to develop and create new exhibitions, and worked with the museum's extensive collection.
More recently I have begun to work with museum design agency THE CREATIVE CORE and have delivered interpretation for two projects; the World of Glass in St Helens and Pleasley Pit in Nottinghamshire. I have also provided proofreading services to IF CREATIVE. In 2024, with the end of my contract at the National Emergency Services Museum, I made the decision to pursue freelancing full-time.
